Instagram has no save-to-phone button for other people's posts, which is why Snaptube's Instagram support is one of its most used features. The method is the same for reels, feed videos, photos and public stories: copy the post's link in Instagram, switch to Snaptube, and the app offers the download. This guide shows each step on the current version of the app, explains what does and does not work with private accounts, and lists the fixes for the usual failures.

Download an Instagram reel or video with Snaptube
With Snaptube 7.65.0 on Android: open the reel in Instagram, tap the share arrow and choose Copy link. Open Snaptube and paste the link into the Search to download bar (recent versions may offer the copied link automatically). Pick a quality and tap Download. The file appears in the Play tab.
Copy the link in Instagram
Open the reel, video or photo. Tap the paper-plane share icon (or the three dots on a photo) and choose Copy link. For a story, open the profile, tap the three dots and copy the profile link.
Open Snaptube and paste the link
Tap the Search to download bar on the Download tab, paste the link and tap search. The post loads with a download arrow. Some versions offer the copied link as soon as the app opens; if that card appears, tap it instead.
Choose a format
For a reel or video, pick from the qualities the sheet lists; the size of each option is shown before you commit. For a photo, the sheet shows the image size.
Download and find the file
Tap Download. Open the Play tab to watch it, or find it in Internal storage, snaptube, in the video or image subfolder.
Snaptube's search results have an Instagram tab. Searching a username there lists the account's public posts, which is faster than copying links one by one when you want several items from the same profile.
Downloading Instagram photos and carousels
Photos use the same copy-link flow. For a carousel with several photos or a mix of photos and videos, Snaptube lists each item separately after the link loads; download the ones you want. Files are saved at the resolution Instagram serves, normally 1080 pixels on the long edge.
Downloading Instagram stories
Stories can be downloaded while they are live (24 hours) from public accounts. Paste the profile link rather than a story link; Snaptube shows the active stories and highlights, and each has its own download arrow. Highlights, being permanent, can be downloaded any time.
Private accounts and logging in
Snaptube fetches Instagram content anonymously, so it cannot download from private accounts, even ones you follow. The app can open a login page inside its browser; we recommend not using it. Third-party clients logging in to Instagram are a common trigger for account checkpoints, and you would be entering your password into a downloader. If you need a post from a private account you follow, screen recording is the honest workaround.
Instagram download not working? Fixes
- Nothing happens after pasting. The link is a profile or explore link rather than a post link. Copy the link from the post's share menu.
- "This video is not available". Private account, deleted post, or age-restricted content. Snaptube cannot fetch any of these.
- The card shows but the download fails. Instagram changed its page format. Update Snaptube from the current release; Instagram fixes are the most frequent reason for new builds.
- Only 360p is offered. The original was uploaded at that size, or Instagram is serving a reduced version to unauthenticated requests. Try again later; if it persists, the source is low resolution.
- Downloaded reel has no sound. Rare, and usually caused by a licensed music track that Instagram serves separately. Download again with a different quality option.
A note on rights
Saving a public post for personal viewing is generally fine; reposting someone's reel as your own is not, and Instagram's terms prohibit downloading content without the creator's permission. Ask before reusing. Snaptube's legal position is covered on the the legal status section.

Does Snaptube download Instagram reels without a watermark?
The file Snaptube saves is the original video stream. The username overlay you see on reels shared to WhatsApp is added by Instagram's share feature, not stored in the video, so it is not in the download.

Why won't Snaptube download from a private account?
